MyShingle Launches Legal Job Board Focused on Solo and Small Law Firms and Legal Tech

WASHINGTON D.C. - 06/20/2017 /EASY NEWSWIRE/ — Last week, MyShingle.com, the longest running blog on solo and small law firm practice and legal entrepreneurship has launched an online Legal Job Fair that focuses exclusively on the 21st century workforce needs of solo and small law firms and legal technology companies. Solo and small law firms and legal tech companies face three unique hiring challenges: (1) unpredictable or sporatic hiring needs which are not well suited to law school placement offices' annual recruitment process; (2) tight budgets which foreclose use of pricey recruiters or the  "lawyer on demand" platforms which offer experienced attorney support and (3) a demand for innovative but difficult-to-find law students and attorneys  adept not just at legal research but also blogging, social media, video, risk analysis, data analytics and cybersecurity.

The MyShingle Legal Job Fair fills this void by facilitating the process of connecting solo and small law firms and legal tech companies with qualified law students and attorneys to meet their workforce needs. The online Job Fair allows solo and small firm employers to post ads for associates, interns or law clerks, as well as temporary and project-based work, while legal temp companies can seek attorneys to serve as beta testers, mentors, advisores and board members.  The Job Fair also allows solo and small firms and legal tech companies to browse a growing data base of law students and attorneys seeking positions and to review their preferred job positions and skills.

According to Carolyn Elefant, publisher of MyShingle.com and practicing attorney:

"As the owner of a small law firm, for years, I have always tried to hire law students and newer lawyers.  Yet despite my efforts to recruit through law schools, I was frustrated at my inability to attract candidates for paid positions - even at a time of high unemployment in the job market.  When I realized that most law schools neither interested in, or capable of placing students with small law firms, I decided to take matters into my own hands and launch a job board that would serve my needs and those of similarly situated solo and small firm lawyers.

In addition, as a high-profile blogger in the legal tech space, I am constantly approached by companies to review and beta test or advise on their products. It occurred to me that there are many practicing lawyers who would welcome an opportunity to beta test legal tech products or play a role in their development so ensure that the resulting products are useful to lawyers and their clients - and the Job Board can facilitate these connections."

Currently, the MyShingle Online Legal Job Fair is free to solo and small firms and legal tech companies with hiring needs and to job seekers who wish to list their credentials and skills. The Online Legal Job Fair can be accessed at https://myshingle.com/online-legal-job-fair.
