Pasadena Villa Opens Autism Care & Support at Smoky Mountain Lodge

Pasadena Villa is pleased to announce the opening of Autism Care & Support at Smoky Mountain Lodge, a program designed for young adult males diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

SEVIERVILLE, TN - 11/20/2019 /EASY NEWSWIRE/ — Sevierville, TN – November 2019 – Pasadena Villa is pleased to announce the opening of Autism Care & Support at Smoky Mountain Lodge, a program designed for young adult males diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Located on 25-acres in the Smoky Mountains, the program operates as a retreat-like setting that offers multi-sensory elements and experiences.

Dr. Julie Eberwein, Associate CEO and Clinical Administrator shares, “The treatment process at Autism Care & Support helps individuals explore vulnerabilities that interfere with self-awareness, acceptance, and growth, ultimately creating the opportunity to develop life strategies and inner-strength necessary for sustained success.”

Pasadena Villa has over 20 years of experience effectively treating clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the Autism Care & Support program takes that one step further. The program fills the gap as it relates to autism treatment needed when bridging into adulthood. Using the natural environment of the Smoky Mountains, clients are engaged in evidence-based strategies that help them improve social functioning, ability to interface within community and strengthen readiness for independent living. Additionally, the extensively trained staff help clients engage, problem-solve, and communicate with one another.

Designed as progressive and cumulative, Autism Care & Support uses four program levels to help clients explore their unique challenges and nuances as they advance at their own pace. Collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team is designed to help individuals set and achieve their individual goals. “We designed our program using our expertise and understanding of research to specifically fill the treatment gap for young men on the spectrum as they transition into adulthood,” says Dr. Eberwein.

Additionally, the PATH Certification (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International), allows our certified staff to work with the client in equine therapy and provide ESMHL (Equine Specialty in Mental Health and Learning). They partner with the mental health professional to provide tailored individual therapy sessions to meet the specific goals of the client.  “Our staff is passionate about sharing their experience, strength and hope with others to not only survive but to give them the tools they need to become as independent as possible,” states Cathie Haviland, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
